Innov8 Academy Launch PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 30 July 2009

Zimbabwe’s newest college opensZimbabwe’s newest education centre, the Innov8 Academy, was launched in Harare on 25 June. Located right at the heart of the central business district, the school received a licence to administer the reputable London Chamber of Commerce and Industry courses and examinations. And LCCI’s international development manager Luke Wales was on hand to officially open the academy and present the prestigious long distance learning LCCI Certificate. An LCCI certificate helps students get international recognition, allowing them to easily work anywhere in the world regardless of where they come from.Zimbabwe, said Wales, was among some 100 countries around the world to which LCCI was affiliated, including some top universities and academic institutions in Europe in general and the United Kingdom in particular. He said: “Zimbabwe has been for the past 10 years an important market for LCCI because (the people here) have shown enthusiasm for up-holding international standards. By partnering with Innov8 Academy, LCCI also partners with Zimbabwe as a country because its presence at the academy enhances the development of the country as a whole.”He urged for a leaning towards more vocational courses so that students are equipped with technical competency skills to match theory with practice.Said Wales: “The skills that are likely to be on demand are secretarial and marketing skills. These will become handy in the attempt to re-brand the country and give it a new image.”Speaking at the function, Academy founder Milton Kamwendo said: “Courses on offer at this academy are specifically targeted towards industry requirements. We put emphasis on the ability of doing something well more than on the academic side of learning. There is no reason why, for example, school leavers and tertiary students should wait to obtain qualifications that are not directly related to industry. Organisations also benefit by sending workers for these courses because an organisation can only be as competent as its staff.” Apart from administering examinations, Innov8 Academy goes the extra mile by partnering with institutions. This partnership is based on regular feedback from organisational heads regarding the performances of former and current students in their employ.Kamwendo said that Innov8 Academy is also exceptional as it offers quality tuition, services and facilities.“Unlike other colleges with limited or no Internet access, each student has full and free Internet access. Such developments ensure students remain abreast of world affairs and are in line with the dream to produce cutting edge students,” he said. The structure of the programmes offered at Innov8 Academy is designed to make them reasonable and affordable to students as they pay a basic tuition fee for all courses. Furthermore a concession exists were LCCI exams are subsidised by 50%.  Snip…Wales cuts the ceremonial ribbon to officially open the academy
