Being average can sound like humility but it definitely is not. Being mediocre may sound African but it is not. Mediocrity can be an epidemic; a bitter addiction and some people may think it is a birthright. The truth is that although not all of us are born with a silver spoon in our mouths it is up to us to choose what we become. Mediocrity is a choice. We either choose it consciously or by default. If mediocrity is left unchallenged it will swallow up all our lives, dominate our thinking and possess posterity. Mediocrity must be challenged and attacked vigilantly wherever it rears its ugly head. Read more

Opportunities can sometimes be scary – they usually look big, imposing and threatening. Most of the time opportunity is not dressed for the market. Sometimes it is dressed as a challenge, a problem, a real hassle, or unfair work. When opportunities are ignored we pass up an opportunity to grow and develop. It is when we attempt something new and challenging that we are energised to grow. Read more

Take charge of your fears!

Perhaps the biggest limitation that humans face is fear. Fear freezes the flow of ideas, torments and disables. We just cannot afford to sacrifice the future on the altar of fear. Until we move beyond our fear we will never grow. Snakes shed when they grow too big for their skin, comparable to the way humans outgrow clothing. Read more

Without clear goals we are hopelessly lost. Goals are not mere campaign statements but things that we are committed to. Commitment is not just the vocabulary of greatness it is an absolute essential. Goals create a sense of focus. Nothing great can ever be achieved without an unyielding focus. Focus results in the concentration of power and dynamic action. We can never hope to win if we are not willing to focus on our goals and give them our all in terms of action, commitment and indeed sacrifice. To seek the luxury of harvest during the season of planting is self deception. Read more

In these times, it is important to take a cue from the seasons. Hard times do come and go. Winters do come and they go. No season will last forever and no season ever escapes its turn. When reading the New Testament of the Bible, you keep coming across these words, “And it came to pass…” The only things that are permanent in life are God, principles and change. Your challenges today are not an indication that the world has come to an end. There is still a lot that can be done.  Read more

There are 6.5 billion people in the world, and every one of them has a dream, an ambition, or vision– as we say to one another. Ask yourself, how many of these people realise their dreams? Then, scale it down to an individual level; and ask yourself if you are realizing your dream? You would discover that many are not, because their dreams remain dreams, nothing more, nothing less.

Hope is not a Strategy

It is easy to sit and wait for our lives to change and for the situation to improve before we can do something. An empty and lazy hope is not a sustainable strategy for greatness. Indeed, at any given moment we are faced with many choices and strategic options. One of those options, the easiest of them all, is to do nothing. Just sitting and hoping for change is irresponsibility and a symptom of laziness. Read more

What is momentum? The dictionary definition of momentum is the power to increase or develop at an ever-growing pace or the speed or force of forward movement of an object. The synonyms of this beautiful word are impetus, drive, thrust, energy, or force. In the journey of greatness momentum should never be taken for granted but it must be preserved. Preserving momentum is not easy but it is possible.  Read more
